The team at Fallen Earth are trying something a bit different to promote their post-apocalyptic MMO this year. They're actually taking the game on a national tour across key cities in the US to get the word out and let potential players get a better look at what their game has to offer.
It seems like no matter how long we spend in our favorite games, once in a while you can spot something you never really noticed before. One such experience came in recently from a Warhammer Online player, Johnfordeath, of the guild Rangers of the Myst from the Volkmar server. John writes in: Saw this nifty spectacle during a raid on the Stoneclaw keep in Talabecland. It was, in my honest opinion, a shooting star. It shot across the sky, albeit slowly, it was pretty neat to see. At first I thought that perhaps it was the sun, with some sort of weird sunray effect going on, but I started to notice it was falling towards the horizon rather quickly. Was cool to see while raiding the keep.
Frogster announced in a press release today that a new 1-on-1 arena system will be introduced at the beginning of March for Runes of Magic, which is currently in open beta. This arena will give players the opportunity to compete for an exclusive mount at the end of each month. Once the free-to-play MMO is launched on March 19th, Frogster plans to expand upon the arena system, offering even more rewards.
Well the awaited hour has finally come true, Darkfall is online. While the delays have been numerous and the resulting traffic has basically crippled the Darkfall website, people are queuing up in the log in server to get a taste of what Agon has to offer them. The delay was due to two problems -- the pre-order load and the staff had caught a critical bug in the game at the last moment. The heavy volume of pre-orders had taken longer to process than Aventurine had anticipated, leading them to delay the launch so more pre-orders could be properly processed. Afterwards, they delayed the launch again due to the wish of the development team to fix that last bug.
SOE has just announced in a press release today that their family-friendly virtual world Free Realms has entered the closed beta stage and they're now accepting early registration for open beta, which is set to start in early April. Previously, there were some rumors floating around that the game would actually launch in April, but the official word is that April will begin the open beta process. SOE's president, John Smedley, is getting the word out to everyone for this important stage in the game's development before launch: "The beta testing phase is integral to the success of any video game, and we are asking that kids, parents, video game fans of all ages sign up to help us during these final weeks before Free Realms launches."
